When the grill is a fire ring and a couple of wire baskets, sausages are the easiest win around. Fully cooked smoked links only need to heat through and blister, which makes them nearly foolproof over unpredictable campfire heat. The baskets let you flip a dozen at once and pull them back the moment flames jump. Cook over embers at the edge of the fire, not over live flame. Onion halves buried in the coals turn sweet and jammy while the sausages crisp.
